Bobby Barr will go straight into the East Fife squad to face Ayr United.
Barr joined the Fifers on a three-month loan deal from Livingston and is available to caretaker manager Gordon Chishom this weekend.
Chisholm is sweating on the fitness of goalkeeper Michael Brown, who is rated 50/50 due to a calf injury.
With back-up Andrew Collier already ruled out, Chishom boss could face a Saturday morning scramble for a keeper.
The Methil man said, "Bobby will add value to our team and I am delighted that he has agreed to come here. We need to get a win and so do Ayr and he may provide a bit of magic to help us do that."
Bottom-of-the-table Ayr look set to include player/manager Mark Roberts after he returned from injury in a midweek reserve game.
Former Rangers youngster Adam Hunter is set for a midfield berth after suspension, but knee injuries keep both defender Martyn Campbell and midfielder Michael McGowan out.
Roberts said: "We're at the bottom of the table because of really poor defensive errors. We're a good side going forward and our new loan signing Darrian MacKinnon showed his worth with two goals against Queen of the South last weekend."
"We can be a really good side, but the only way we can get above East Fife and off the foot of the table is by being much better in defence."
