Airdrie moved to within five points of the top four after Scott Gemmill's first-half goal sealed a 1-0 win over East Fife at the Bayview Stadium.
Gemmill struck five minutes before half-time with a close-range header from Jamie Stevenson's cross to seal all three points for Jimmy Boyle's men.
Despite Craig Johnstone testing Mark Ridgers in the first minute, Airdrie had the better of the opening exchanges with both Gemmill and Stevenson going close for the visitors.
After the restart Matthew Park threatened for the home side with a left-footed strike that just went wide but it was the visitors who went closest to scoring next with Phillip Johnston missing two decent chances.
Despite a frantic finish Airdrie hung on for the win with Gemmill's goal proving to be the difference between the sides.
