Alloa remain in relegation trouble after a 3-1 defeat at East Fife.
Alloa head into the final game of the season a point above Stenhousemuir and a win will secure their place in Division Two.
East Fife are three points short of the play-off places and can gatecrash the top four on the last day.
The Fifers were in front after 16 minutes when Ryan Wallace finished calmly from inside the penalty area.
Wallace could have made it 2-0 four minutes later but his penalty, given for Scott Walker's foul on Mark McCulloch, was saved by Athletic goalkeeper Jamie Ewings.
East Fife doubled their lead nine minutes into the second period, Lloyd Young crossing for Matthew Park to head home from close range.
Alloa pulled one back after 61 minutes when Kevin Motion latched onto Walker's flick-on to fire home from close range.
But Scott Durie's 18-yarder three minutes from time secured victory for East Fife.
