East Fife consolidated their lead at the top of the Third Division with a one goal victory at Ochilview against Stenhousemuir.
The league leaders were worthy winners as they took control in the first half of the game and although the Warriors were better in the second half the Fifers were in control for most of the game.
East Fife should have taken the lead after only two minutes when Craig Smart shot wide from only ten yards out but he was to make amends in the 15th minute when he finished the best move of the game by converting a Neil Jablonski cross.
Stenhousemuir struggled to get back into the game after this as they came up against a resolute East Fife defence and mainly had to rely on half chances.
In the second half they did come close through David Templeton whose perseverance saw him create an opening but his lob went over.
In the 63rd minute they should have scored when a John Paul McBride corner fell to Mark Cowan but he ballooned a shot over the bar from close range.
It was only at set pieces that Stenhousemuir looked lively and Gareth Hutchison had a header cleared off the line from another McBride corner but East Fife held firm and they could have sealed victory with a further goal before the end of the game. They however will be happy to take all three points back to Methil.
